Why am I expecting comments?..why is my boss expecting me to work? or why do we have expectations at all....some great soul once told
"The best things in life are ones we get unexpectedly - because there were noThat's actually very true,it gives so much joy.Imagine none expected Obama to win when he was nominated, the skeptical ones commented - A black man in the White House? already some have made it but they carry a broom!!. But then the world is elated now...
expectations".
Try following any of those new age gurus. Guru A says expectations are the root of all evils, Guru B says love the world and expect joy to come out of that love. Though the concept of getting away frome expectations sounds as easy as one of the khan brothers stripping their shirts, in reality its so tough. I too have my own list of expectations
- Expected my visit to a the transport office for leraner's license would be smooth, given the new smart card n other techie developments but then...phew!
- Expected my boss to sanction my two days leave application with a smile and send me off for the vacation with a hug and bouquet.
- Expected my first love to succeed and live happily ever after with her.But it failed(so did my 2nd,3rd,4th....n to the power of nth)!!
- Expect others not to expect seriousness from me. I am happy with the joker image amongst close friends. Once attempted changing it during college days, by maintaining a stiff upperlip and a straight face, but it lead to many to think that either I am suffering from constipation or that my zipper got stuck.
- Expect people will stop playing "Truth or dare",during a recent round realized the amount of skeletons in my closet[have decided to donate some to the madras medical college].It's a silly game which makes many cringe thinking what to tell out and what not to.
- Expect the hawwwt bong girl[dammmn hot!! has green eyes and can beat the new bond girls] at work to smile back at me, and finally she does then comes over to my desk hands over her wedding invite.
- Expect everyone to stop laughing when bosses/clients[in undecipherable accents] joke in conferences. It's as though there was a clause in our employment agreement which implies we should laugh for those things.Went thru one for 45mins today.
- Expect I get more knowledge about englees music. Recently a colleague asked whether I listen to iron maiden, and I replied I listen only to my mom and not some unknown maids. She gets exasperated and moves off.
I know everyone or atleast most of us are good deep inside our hearts[though we might have stoned stray dogs as kids, smoked weed, filled the petrol tank of the bad professor's bike with sand/sugar, cursed aish for marrying abhi or vice versa] except that when expectations seep in we are unable to control the disappointment if they are not fulfilled.

I could not find any meaning in the TITLE :(
Your wish list was as amazing as you, and the stiff upper lip(sufferring from constipation) story was true kya?? :P
Nauts.. title le edho paradesi nu thitaraaa maadri irukku.. :-s
Me too gets annoyed by ppl who dig thru all the archives and leave without commenting... Sometimes they come back and do the same...Can u start a outsoucrce stalk agency that insists ppl on commeting when they dig???
the rest of it was a whoe bunch of thoughts...Avalo patience ille.. Will come back and comment if i can think of anything...! :D
Tarun,
Haan ji..attempted it but then settled for the joker look as the constipated guy image was not easy to handle :)
Title-I googled found some emaning but has nothing to with the post.So the moral is-Dont expect title's to match the post contents :P
curious cat,
Title may be a bad word in some language, who knows :)
Sure should start one..leave my crappy blog..yours its serious, especailly the art one..yaaravadhu idea-va suttuda porango!!We should catch hold of them..
Haan come back if totally vetti..bcoz not a very sane collection of thoughts :)
lol - its niice to hear the funny get philosophical..but dnt worry the world statistics has many things that will solve your love turning into marriage expectation come true - eg - no of girls suiciding, etc etc ;P
and hey thanx for teaching a new word - guess the meaning slightly strays from wat u meant..ah! u meant it exactly the same way right? ..ok!
and congratulations from my part to the "green eyed" blonde - u sure seem to love green a lot!
Verby,
Being funny is also a philosophy :).Thanks for that gloomy pic abt world statistics I hope my wedding wud be the probability breaking one then :)
The word has a proper meaning? I just searched for latin, greek term and stumbled on this.
Haan yeah i am a green peace member but greenpeace is not giving any help for pataofying green eyed girls for its members...so saad naa :P
buhahahahahahahahahaha! um sure the zipper got stuck :DDDDDD
and hell yea i hate tht truth or dare and all tht crap as games!
and yes i hav done all tht....thrown stones at dogs, humans :D smoked weed, put sand into the profs petrol tank :DDDDDDDDD
Ouch, you're talking about one of my worst topics. I am constantly trying not to have expectations. I mean I expect to not have expectations, and then I do. I'm convinced, as you say about Obama, the only way it works is to expect the worse, then you are happily surprised. But the gurus say that puts bad energy out there. So then I make an intention for something good. Then it doesn't happen.
So sorry about the wedding invitation from the green eyed girl. :(
:))
One of your expectation is fulfilled, I hope.
Prasad,
Welcome to the club of baaad boys :) and man there are mail thread celebrations going on here as your engine is down :P
Ruth,
Its pretty paradoxial seriously. We are left confused as to if we can think positively or just think it wont happen and dont pin hopes. i used to think hopelessly most of the times and imagine I hav better options even if i dont...Like the green eyed girl ..probability of getting another green eyed one in chennai is prety lowww...still lets me hope for the worst :)
Swat,
Thanks a ton..I expected you would give this to me :)
:)) You are too much!
:))
But I agree on that boss client laughing thing! These US guys come and they say something in some unknown accent and everybody around is laughing and you just grin along! I found out later on that many others were acting too :D
Truth or Dare was one game that I never played! Rather, decided not to play :D
And the title - in a way, you are good at doing it :D I think the meaning can be attributed to you well :P
Haha, I wonder where the "U.S. guys" are from that Sindhu mentioned. :) I wonder if I have an accent.
my engine is up and runnin asusual!!! the reasons for not goin to work today are totally different!!
Sindhu,
Today we had a british guy and trust me we couldn't get almost 40% of his accent yet had to laugh when others did :)...well didn't know the meaning when i put it in but surely sounds ok now
Ruth,
Those US Guys were from US :).. its not that they have an accent, just that we are not used to hear their[or your] way of speaking in day to day and it takes almost 10mins to start understanding the pattern and rate of speech by which time half the meeting would have been done :)
Prasad,
Oh my gawwd....forget it.Happens to celebrities, there is always this group to spread rumors about them.
am sure...the zipper had got stuck :P
btw do u want to know the real reason why prasad didn't goto work?
Oops Ruth
:D Sorry. No offense meant!
I don't usually have any trouble understanding the accent, because I deal with a lot of people and can easily handle all the accents, but sometimes, it does get over the head sometimes :D
And then again, the sense of humor varies too - somethings may look funny for us when others may not & vice versa! Thats when we may just end up with blank faces :D
No offense taken! If you had seen me ask the question I was smiling and laughing. I should have written LOL, haha.
Believe me, there are people in this country I do not understand either.
Most of us Yanks sit mesmerized when we hear a Brit speak. It doesn't matter what they say, they could say "la la la la la" and we would fold our hands in our laps, get big googly eyes, and go into a trance. Then we'll ask them to say it again.
I have also been on a bus in Dublin and not understood a single word of a drunk at 11 in the morning.
All of us in the US swear we don't have an accent. Pretty much in Michigan though we sound nasally (think Sarah Palin), but I try not to! (I also try not to say "also" at the end of every sentence.)
As for Indian accents, it's close to what I said about the Brits. I suppose that's 'cause you learnt your English from them, eh what?
Do you know anyone who can imitate an American accent? Hahaha.
:)) yea! We got our English from them
And American accent is very difficult to imitate as such! You can only learn it over time. Anybody trying to act over smart - you can easily spot them out and see that they are trying a fake accent :D
and you even expected us to write our comments here !!!! :D
Ruth,
I can attempt at imitatinig..hae worked in a call enter for 6months where they make us do it.So we roll our R's and pronounce the A as it is...few more lessons were taught but forgot :)...and yeah it was pretty tough when afro americans and chnese called. They used to go really fast and then will tel us"Maan you are speakin faast" :))
Indians have their own accents,I have seen bengalis, gujaratis and south indians speaking and trust me they wont be able to understand what the other is speaking :)
Praddy,
Yeah heard the story from the horse's mouth :)
Vimmu,
You better..or yelse I will post your song from qwicky's recording studio on my blaag and claim it is me singing :P
uff so many expectations DS. Du really think writing them down wld help ya? ;)
Anyway that truth n dare- did u play it again or wat? :p
Apeeta,
Wow a comment from someone on vacation..thanks ,it means a lot..appreciated :)
i didnt write them down exactly..bcoz if i had started to write them..would take 3-4 posts..was just rambling abt some stoopid expectations we have.Like say i expect one of my good friends not to turn crazy when a lay's chips packet is shown :P...
started truth n dare with a bunch fo school friends as we thought we wud know more about everyone as there wasnt much contacts...then we left it midway :)..was tooo embarassing u see
When I asked where were they from, I meant where in the US? :) We have as many different accents as you do in India. Have you ever heard a Boston accent? Or Texas?
Oh :) my customers where from Midwest
he he he...
See I am leaving a comment...at least one of your expectation is fulfilled ;-)
I love getting comments too...
helped you with one expectation...now what do I do?!
Oh yeah...
Remind me to start truth or dare the next time we all meet up ;)
LOL :D...Too good but what does the title mean? Did Google actually help u? As far as I'm concerned forget about understanding, I can't even pronounce it :P
Now coming to EXPECTATION, I tell it often that whosoever said not to expect anything is a jerk. I understand expecting too many things can be bad but how can one survive without no expectation in life??? At least not pssible by a normal mortal like me! I do expect X, Y, Z...
Smita,
Thank youus...and I seriously hope ur expectation of folks voting for you will be fulfilled too :)
Abar,
Next time we meet I am in a mauna vrath :P
Kanupriya,
Title meant something like a sentence ending with a different meaning..dunno how to explain it :)
Haan expectations are an intrinsic part of human nature..no way we can throw them out.
And.. i am "unexpectedly" going to let u pay my credit card bill for the month ..;-) nice boss u have , btw..
every time i have a love, i think, it will the most successful love story and we will live happily ever after (like every gurrl thinks)...
now i see a guy who thought that too
Parkavi,
Oh really? I would love to do that provided u pay my last 2 months outstanding :)
sneha,
Only if wishes were wishes :)... same pinch by the way
Hmm... 6 days after this post & counting?
sindhs,
What to do rey..neitehr is there any engagement in my place nor am i being promoted as the next in line..so nothing too interesting happening to write about :P
